Qualifications
A Business Web Strategist is responsible for providing web marketing strategies, web application development, and web design to support business initiatives and to build customer relationships. Successful incoming students are often those who enjoy spending time online building Facebook and MySpace pages, playing XBox Live and other online games, and working with digital photography and design and programming tools like Photoshop, Flash,and Dreamweaver.
Program Overview
Students learn how to program and design dynamic data-driven Web sites using programming languages that include ColdFusion, ActionScript 3.0, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, HTML, VB.NET, and others. Instruction in back-end database design and implementation using SQL Server and Oracle is given during the second year of the Business Web Strategist curriculum. Focus on Web System Administration will also occur as students install Windows Server running IIS and Linux running Apache in Web Server Administration courses. Web Design courses such as Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver with the option to take Digital Photography are also a part of the Business Web Strategist Program. An emphasis in marketing and business is also incorporated in the curriculum to teach the Business Web Strategist students to successfully align websites with business objectives.
Hands-on learning is emphasized. A laptop computer, leased from the college, is required.
